HOUSTON – In the span of two weeks, two of Houston’s largest data center providers revealed massive expansion plans in the area. Experts say Digital Realty and CyrusOne are readying to wage a battle over new, large-scale data center business.

Digital Realty Trust Inc. has added two new data center buildings — an additional 112,000 sf of space — to its 21-acre campus in Greenspoint (see Digital dominates Houston with 112,000 SF in additions for more information).

CyrusOne Inc. is preparing to break ground on a connected 600,000-sf data center and 200,000-sf office building at its 45-acre Houston West data center campus at 5150 Westway Park Blvd. The new complex will be the their data center on the campus.

Including the new data center, CyrusOne’s campus will have more than 1 million sf of data center space that has a power capacity of close to 100 megawatts. The Class A office space in the new building will serve as the campus’s primary office location.
