COLLEGE STATION - Texas A&M University is set to begin a $8 million renovation of Francis Hall. Following renovation, the building will house the Department of Construction Science within the College of Architecture.

The project will include demolition of the building’s current interior; installation of new mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire alarm and communication systems; and the construction of an auditorium and an exhibit hall.

The building will include a state-of-the art building information modeling (BIM) Cave, a safety lab, a student lounge, a conference/bid room, and exposed mechanical, electrical, an- structural systems that will make the building a virtual learning laboratory.

Completion is expected in time for the fall 2014 semester. The three-story Francis Hall was originally constructed in 1918. Satterfield & Pontikes Construction will serve as general contractor for the project.
