$220M buys two Westin hotels in Houston
HOUSTON – The 487-room Westin Galleria hotel, located at 5060 W Alabama St., and the 406-room Westin Oaks Houston at the Galleria, located at 5011 Westheimer Rd., have been sold for approximately $220 million.
The 24-story Westin Galleria includes over 71,000 sf of meeting space, and the 21-floor Westin Oaks Houston at the Galleria offers 23,500 sf of meeting space, including a 4,500-sf banquet space. Additionally, they are the only hotels connected to the Galleria Mall complex.
Both hotels recently underwent renovations totaling $35 million, and the properties will continue to be managed by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc.
Inland American Lodging Group Inc. acquired the two Galleria District hotels.
In addition to the hotels, The Galleria mixed-use complex includes three office towers, a private fitness club and a retail complex. Totaling over 3 million sf, the retail component forms the largest mall in Texas and one of the ten largest malls in the United States.
