AUSTIN – July was the busiest passenger traffic month in Austin-Bergstrom International Airport’s history, airport officials announced. July traffic marked the fourth time in five months that the airport has hit record traveler levels.

A total of 922,615 passengers traveled through the airport in July, breaking the previous single-month high of 911,675, which had just been set in June. The June traffic marked the first month in airport history to see more than 900,000 passengers. The July traffic was 6.5 percent higher than the same month last year.

The airport has seen increased passenger traffic in 42 of the past 43 months.

July 2013 air cargo totaled 11,923,092 lbs., down 2.5 percent compared to July 2012. International air cargo totaled 739,290, up 8 percent. Federal Express carried 8 million lbs., up 2 percent; and United Parcel Service carried 2.4 million lbs., up 3 percent.

Air Services transferred 262,669 lbs. of mail, down 4.5 percent; and 658,744 lbs. of belly freight, down 46 percent.

Aircraft Operations: General Aviation operations totaled 30,180 for January — July YTD, up 1 percent. Combined operations (including commercial and military) totaled 102,759, up 4 percent.
