AMARILLO - Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores has leased 35,000 sf at the Summit Shopping Center on Coulter St. at Southwest 34th Ave. The Sears Outlet will open in 2013 and anticipates creating 25 to 35 jobs, said spokesman Kelsey Brennan.

The outlet will sell brand-new, “still-in-box” products ranging from “entry-level priced” to high-end home appliances, grills, mowers, snow blowers, patio furniture, small kitchen appliances and home goods. The store will also offer reconditioned merchandise.

The City of Amarillo has issued a building permit for renovations to the space. The construction value of the work is $350,000, according to city permit data.

Additionally, Conn’s HomePlus will open a 30,000-sf store at 2510 Soncy Rd. in October 2013. That store will fill a space vacant since 2009, when electronics chain Circuit City went out of business.
