Tyler Junior College adding 130,000-SF health care center
TYLER – Construction is underway at Tyler Junior College on the new four-story, 130,000-sf Robert M. Rogers Nursing and Health Sciences Center. The facility will be located at the corner of 5th St. and Fleishel Ave. and is set to open in spring 2015.
The college will be able to expand its 11 nursing and health sciences programs in order to add new programs to produce 50 percent more graduates — from 600 in 2013 to 900 by 2017.
Health care in Tyler has become more than a $3 billion industry supporting over 25,000 jobs. Additionally, by late 2013, four major acute-care medical facilities in East Texas will have invested $190 million in new construction to increase the capacity and quality of patient care.
