CORPUS CHRISTI - Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi has broken ground on the new dining hall on campus, which will be located adjacent to the new residence halls.
The 18,700-sf dining hall will help accommodate a growing student body that is expected to be close to 11,000 this fall.
The facility will include indoor and outdoor seating for up to 400 students and will become the seventh dining facility on campus. Cost of construction is estimated at $7 million, according to state filing.
The expected opening date of the single-story dining hall is August 2014.
