SAN ANTONIO – The busy summer homebuying season is over and San Antonio’s housing market went out with a bang, according to the San Antonio Board of Realtors (SABOR).

As of August 2013, the average price of a home stood at $209,672 — a 7 percent increase from the average price of $195,693 posted last August.

The median price of a home was $174,500 — an 8 percent increase from the median price of $161,400 in August 2012. A major factor in the median-price rise was an increase in the number of higher-end homes sold, observes Steven Gragg, 2013 Chairman of the Board for SABOR.

Homes spent an average of 69 days on the market in August. A total of 2,413 homes were sold over the 31 days ended August 31 — a 15 percent increase from the number of homes sold last August.
