HARLINGEN – The $9.3 million, 29,922-sf Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District (HCISD) Preforming Arts Center has opened at 3217 W. Wilson Road. The facility will seat approximately 950 people.

Bands, orchestras, choirs, performances and other events will be hosted at this new facility, which will also be able to host University Interscholastic League (UIL) competitions. The center also has a full rigging system that allows background sets to be raised to the highest level.

HCISD also opened a 15-acre, $1.75 million Agricultural farm at 23146 Hand Rd. where students have the opportunity to raise livestock.

Funding for the projects came from the $98.6 million bond issue passed by voters in 2010.
