SAN ANTONIO - There were 1,890 apartments built in the first half of 2013 compared to 1,900 units delivered in 2012, according to Hendricks-Berkadia. 

Eight properties are under construction totaling 2,460 units that are expected to be delivered by mid-2014.

Absorption trailed deliveries in the past 12 months resulting in a 70 basis point increase in vacancy to 6 percent. The vacancy rate for Class A apartments increased from 4.1 percent to 5.9 percent during this time.

There were 45,100 annualized single-family sales in the past year, a 10.4 percent increase from the prior 12-month period. Home values rose 6.2 percent during this time to a median price of $170,800.
