HOUSTON – Houston still continues to shine as a top ten destination for domestic travelers, according to the midyear Hotel Price Index report from Hotels.com.

The Bayou City ranks at No. 9 on the list of top U.S. destinations for Americans. Houston ranks ahead of other Texas cities such as San Antonio, which ranked No. 10; Dallas at No. 15; and even Austin, which came in at No. 16.

Other big southern cities New Orleans, Atlanta and Miami all ate Houston’s dust at No. 14, No. 11 and No. 13, respectively.

Las Vegas ranked first on the list, followed by New York City, Orlando, San Diego and Los Angeles to round out the top five.

Hotels.com compiles the Index using data from its booking system to determine which destinations are the most popular worldwide. Houston ranked ninth on the domestic travel list in 2012, as well.
