Conroe sales tax reaches record $26M
CONROE – Sales tax revenue for the City of Conroe increased a third consecutive year with a record $26.911 million allocated during the 2013 fiscal year.
That total was $2.471 million – or 10.2 percent – more than the then-record $24.150 million the city received in FY 2012. Conroe’s sales tax in 2011 was $22.540 million.
The state Comptroller’s Office last week released September allocation figures, which represent the actual sales tax for the month of July. The city collected $2.167 million for its general fund in September, which is a 14.8 percent increase from the prior year.
The Woodlands Township and the township’s economic development zone (EDZ) received $1.575 million and $1.372 million, respectively, in September. The township’s growth was 7.8 percent compared to Sept. 2012, and 2.8 percent for the EDZ.
