MARSHALL – The 1929-built Hotel Marshall, located on the Harrison County Courthouse Square, will be transformed into East Texas Baptist University’s graduate school.

The eight-story, 45,000-sf hotel was appraised at $3.2 million, according to Judge Richard Anderson, a partner in the public-private venture.

Jerry and Judy Cargill and Richard and Christina Anderson donated the property, which will eventually include offices, classrooms, laboratories, open areas and living facilities. Renovations are estimated to take 36 months to complete.

“It’s basically a blank slate ready to be rewritten, and it’s got plumbing and electricity to all floors. So, it’s just a matter of deciding how we want to finish them out," said university president Dub Oliver.
