SAN ANTONIO - University Hospital announced its new ten-story tower in the South Texas Medical Center is on track for completion in April 2014. The addition, which spans 1 million sf has construction costs estimated at $805 million.
The new tower includes 420 private inpatient hospital rooms, an expanded emergency center, surgical suites and rooftop gardens.
The addition also includes a parking garage that can hold 3,300 vehicles. The project boosts University Hospital’s total number of inpatient rooms to more than 700.
The facility will accommodate the trauma center’s increased patient load, which has nearly doubled since the opening of the current facility.
