ARLINGTON – Gander Mountain has filed permits to build a 52,000-sf store at 3901 S. Center St. on an undeveloped 7.1-acre tract at the Arlington Highlands shopping center off I-20.

The outdoor specialty store will be located just east of Costco. Estimated cost of construction is $4.2 million, according to filings.

Gander Mountain plans to open a store in the Lakepointe Town Crossing in Lewisville and a Firearms Super Center in Mesquite this fall, with other stores planned for San Antonio and Round Rock. The retailer has 14 stores in Texas.

Since its founding in 1960, Gander Mountain has grown to 127 stores in 24 states.
