CORPUS CHRISTI - Regional Transportation Authority officials broke ground on the new Staples Street Center project. The $29 million project is located at Waco St. and Leopard St.

The project includes a new customer service center across from City Hall, a parking lot and the renovation of the nearby bus transfer station. The 79,251-sf building will have space for other governmental entities to lease and renovate the nearby bus transfer station.

The project is expected to bring nearly $40 million into our economy each year, along with 233 jobs.

Construction on the new complex is scheduled for a completion date of December 2014.
