SAN ANTONIO - A major expansion is underway at the Southwest San Antonio shopping mecca that is Traders Village. The project will add six amusement rides, four food outlets and another 300 vendor spaces to the sprawling 290-acre complex at 9333 SW Loop 410.
The project will also bring additional air-conditioned restrooms, more shaded seating areas and several acres of new parking to Traders Village. Among the amusements to be added to Traders Village are bumper cars and a playground.
The expansion project is slated for completion by spring 2014.
The inaugural Traders Village debuted in Grand Prairie in 1973. A second Village in Houston opened in 1989.
The San Antonio facility is the third in the flea-market-and-more concept.
