BELTON - The Crusaders rolled out the green carpet to open their first on-campus football palace, an over $20 million coliseum dubbed Crusader Stadium. The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor's (UMHB) stadium features seating for as many as 8,766.

A press box, lights and suites grace the home side, while a soon-to-be-completed student union building sits on the visitors’ side. The stadium will also feature a 26- by 40-foot video scoreboard.

Earl Santee, designer of the new Yankee Stadium, Target Field and several others, was the leader of Populous’ design team. Populous also created blueprints for the new Baylor Stadium.

UMHB's stadium project is part of a $100 million campus improvement, which also includes a nursing school building, banquet hall and arts complex. In other news, UMHB recently added a new doctorate degree program in the nursing school in April 2013.
