FORT WORTH, HASLET, COPPELL – Local online customers of Amazon.com and Walmart.com should expect better service this holiday season.

Walmart.com’s first distribution center in Texas dedicated to filling online orders opened last week in Fort Worth. The 800,000-sf facility has 275 full-time employees. It is the first in Texas dedicated to its e-commerce side.

Amazon’s 1.1 million-sf center in Haslet and 1 million-sf center in Coppell are expected to open soon.

The two North Texas Amazon centers and a 1.2 million-sf facility in Schertz, near San Antonio, will employ about 1,000 people.

Amazon’s centers in Coppell and Schertz will handle larger items such as televisions and barbecue grills. The center in Haslet will process smaller items. All three will ship nationwide.

Walmart is doubling the number of items it offers online this holiday season to more than 5 million and expects online sales this year to exceed $10 billion globally.
