COLLIN COUNTY - Collin County recently was ranked the nation's tenth-best county to work in, according to a study by finance website NerdWallet.com.

The counties were rated based on the 2012 unemployment rate, median income for full-time workers, population growth from 2010 to 2012 and median commute time.

Collin County’s unemployment rate was at 6.1 percent in 2012, although it has improved to 5.8 percent in July of this year. Employees spent a median 27.2 minutes in traffic and make a median income of $56,415. The population growth was 5.9 percent between 2010 and 2012.

Collin County was the top county in Texas, and only Texas county in the top 20. The county’s major industries include education services, professional service, health care, finance, manufacturing and retail.
