TEMPLE - The governing boards of Baylor Health Care System and Scott & White Healthcare completed a ten-month journey as they finalized their merger, creating an $8.3 billion health care system to form the largest not-for-profit health system in Texas.

Baylor Scott & White Health is based in Dallas and Baylor Scott & White Health Service Company is based in Temple.

The new Baylor Scott & White Health includes 43 hospitals, more than 500 patient care sites, more than 6,000 affiliated physicians, 34,000 employees and the Scott & White Health Plan. A combined team of leaders from both Baylor and Scott & White will guide the new health system.

A unified board of trustees is comprised of 16 individuals with an equal number of representatives from each organization.

Joel Allison is now the chief executive officer of the new Baylor Scott & White Health. Robert Pryor, M.D., is now president, chief operating officer and chief medical officer of Baylor Scott & White Health. Drayton McLane Jr. serves as chair of the unified board. 

Baylor Scott & White Health will continue to honor its individual entities’ 100+ year legacies, including Baylor’s Christian ministry of healing.
