SAN ANGELO - Teri Jackson, realtor and president of the San Angelo Realtors Association, said the local house inventory is on the rise because residential construction is booming and there are more houses going on the market.

The Concho Valley area historically keeps six months of inventory, and one thing that helps is interest rates are still very low.

Dr. Mark Dotzour, director of research at the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M, also delivered a positive analysis on the state of the local and national economy to the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce.

According to Dotzour, San Angelo’s economic numbers are positive compared with the nation.

Dotzour pointed out the economy is recovering in a natural, healthy manner. People are buying houses and cars in 2013 not because of any government incentive.

Chamber of Commerce President Phil Neighbors was pleased to hear the positive state of the economy and said entrepreneurs should go away with a sense of confidence after the presentation.
