Longview sales tax revenues spike 8 percent
LONGVIEW – Longview’s sales tax revenues for October of fiscal year 2013-2014 showed an 8 percent increase from October 2012.
According to a report from the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, Longview collected $2,424,226 from sales that occurred during August 2013.
A city spokesperson said staff were excited to begin the fiscal year with a positive and growing report.
June and July’s comptroller reports saw revenues about 5 percent more than 2012. August’s numbers were nearly 10 percent greater than August 2012 reports, and the totals reported September 2013 were about 3.5 percent higher.
Statewide sales tax revenues were $2.01 billion, up 2.7 percent compared with August 2012. Texas has posted 42 consecutive months of rising sales tax receipts.
