EL PASO - El Paso's 14.1 percent vacancy rate in third quarter 2013 for industrial buildings remained unchanged from a year ago. Meanwhile, Juarez's industrial vacancy rate declined substantially to 10.9 percent, compared to 15.4 percent a year ago, according to CBRE Group.

Other Texas markets had much lower vacancy rates: Houston, 5.1 percent; DFW, 7.3 percent; San Antonio, 8.4 percent; and Austin, 10.7 percent.

The largest deals in El Paso in 3Q 2013 were GCX Corp.'s purchase of 95,200 sf in the Northeast, and Houston Foam Plastics' 90,000-sf lease in Central El Paso. Industrial space was cut by only 40,611 sf in 3Q 2013, leaving 7.7 million sf available.

In Juarez, industrial space was cut by 732,000 sf, leaving 6.6 million sf available.
