El Paso’s 40-unit Martin Lofts part of Downtown plans
El Paso – The multimillion-dollar renovation of the 98-year-old Martin Building at Stanton and Mills has been underway for almost a year and is expected to be completed this summer.
The Martin Lofts are phase two of a five-phase plan, El Paso businessperson Lane Gaddy said. It will involve renovations of three historic buildings and construction of three buildings, including a large construction project that Gaddy said will be revealed later.
Cost of the Martin Building renovation and construction of an adjoining two-story office and retail building have already exceeded the $6.7 million committed to spend as part of an agreement with the city to get tax breaks and other financial incentives, Gaddy said.
