CORPUS CHRISTI – The $93 million Southside high school, now named Veterans Memorial, is underway. The 430,000-sf school is being built on a 75.98-acre site at 3750 Cimarron Blvd.

The name of the school will honor those who have served in the military, fallen heroes and their families. Veterans Memorial is set to open by August 2015.

Corpus Christi Independent School District (CCISD) base plan includes instructional classrooms, science labs, business labs, multimedia/library, fine arts, athletics, ROTC and AG program areas and an auxiliary gym and a 1,500-seat competition gym.

In July, the CC ISD school board added an 1,000 seat UIL compliant performing arts auditorium and a dozen additional classrooms to the new high school at an added cost of just over $14 million bringing the total construction value to $93M.

Veterans Memorial marks the first new high school since 1967.
