I-20 warehouse steps up to 823,379 SF
DALLAS – An 823,379-sf building now under construction on Beckleymeade Ave. is the largest speculative warehouse under construction in the Dallas area.
Trammell Crow Co. has teamed up with Prudential Real Estate Investors to build the project along I-20 in southern Dallas. The 47-acre project will be called Trammell Crow Penn Distribution Center and will be ready in May 2014.
The shell building has construction costs estimated at $19.5 million, according to state filings.
The new warehouse project is in the same area where Crow has built two other industrial buildings. Crow leased those buildings on Beckleymeade to retail giant Home Depot.
More than 4 million sf of warehouse space is already under construction along I-20 in southern Dallas County. But most of that is already spoken for by major companies including Quaker Oats, BMW, Ace Hardware and Cummins Inc.
The only other very large speculative industrial building under construction in the I-20 corridor is a 653,000-sf building in Prologis’ Park 20/35 in Lancaster.
