FORT WORTH - Following the lease of the 1.2 million-sf Alliance Center North 1, Hillwood Properties plans to build two more speculative buildings totaling 1.3 million sf.

Construction has begun on the adjacent 1 million-sf Alliance Center North 2, also expected to be complete in May 2014. The third building, with 310,000 sf and called Gateway 57 in the Alliance Gateway section of the 17,000-acre development, will be completed in June 2014.

Hillwood last built speculative buildings in 2008.

It is currently constructing a 399,000-sf build-to-suit facility for Carolina Beverage Group, next door to Flextronics, which opened a 450,000-sf factory for Motorola’s Moto X smartphone in the former Nokia factory on Alliance Gateway.

Hillwood also recently competed a 1.1 million-sf distribution center for online retailer Amazon.com in the Haslet section of Alliance, and Walmart has opened a 788,000-sf online fulfillment center at 5300 Westport Pkwy.

The Alliance Center North development will have the capacity for more than 9 million sf of industrial building space when it is built out.
