New Caney ISD construction on $19M stadium; $24M school
NEW CANEY, PORTER – New Caney ISD has broken ground on two projects. The first is a new $18.8 million stadium located at Hwy. 59 and Community Dr. in New Caney. The stadium, which will have a capacity of 9,500, will include a field house and a two-story press box with VIP suites and elevator.
The land is located within the upcoming development Valley Ranch Town Center. The facility will be one of the first school stadiums to be made a focal point of a commercial development.
Also, New Caney ISD has broken ground on the 181,000-sf Woodridge Forest Middle School located at 4540 Woodridge Pkwy. in Porter. Cost of construction is estimated at $24 million, according to state filings.
The two-story Woodridge Forest Middle School will include practice and competitive gymnasiums, a field house, practice and competitive football fields and six lane track. Completion is scheduled for 2014.
