SHERMAN-DENISON – The two cities ranked as No. 9 in a list of ten best places to retire on $30,000 a year, according to the November issue of the AARP Magazine.
The median home prices in the Sherman and Denison area are low at $79,400 and the median property tax comes in at $1,158 a year. The article lists the median home mortgage at $303 a month.
Denison is known as the birthplace of President Dwight D. Eisenhower. The area also has the Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge, which has an impressive 338 species of birds, 36 species of mammals, 60 species of reptiles and amphibians and 61 species of fish.
