COPPERAS COVE - Officials broke ground on a new Scott & White Health Clinic. The 15,000-sf clinic will be built on 2.45 acres at 239 W. US Hwy. 190. The cost of construction is estimated at $1.7 million.
The clinic will house 24 exam rooms, two treatment rooms, on-site laboratory, X-ray services, physician offices and a conference room.
One of the largest employers to benefit from the clinic opening is the Copperas Cove school district. Benefits Specialist Shirley Bennett said a lot of the district’s employees chose Scott & White when offered a health care option.
“The clinics’ opening created jobs and definitely helped the area economically. It meant more money for the city and more opportunity for our citizens," according to Bill Kozlik, Harker Heights Chamber of Commerce president.
The clinic is expected to be completed by June 2014.
