HCC Southeast parks $7.5M, 150,000-SF garage
HOUSTON – Houston Community College Southeast has completed construction on a three-story, 150,000-sf suspended parking garage at 6960 Rustic St. Construction on the 600-space garage began in June 2012, and the estimated cost was $7.5 million, according to state filings.
The garage guarantees that all students, faculty and staff will be able to find parking at the Eastside campus. Some of the garage’s space will be built out by February 2014 to house educational facilities, a staff and student lounge and a multipurpose room that will seat 100 people.
“The benefits of HCC’s presence in the community can be seen in the positive impact on the economy from the creation of jobs, increases in students’ lifetime incomes, a better educated, better trained workforce pool, a reduction in the demand for social services and the generation of government revenue,” said Trustee Eva Loredo, District VIII.
