HOUSTON – The Fire Museum of Houston and the City of Houston are set to sell a 1.44-acre tract at Main and Hadley.

The new owner, Trammell Crow Residential, is expected to build a five-story, 215-unit apartment complex called Alexan Midtown.

The high-end project will have five stories of apartments atop two levels of parking with an average 850-sf unit fetching about $1,700 per month. Construction is scheduled to begin in early January 2014. The first units are expected to deliver in early 2015.

Trammell Crow recently broke ground on a similar project in the Energy Corridor, the Alexan Enclave, a 354-unit apartment complex at 13411 Briar Forest Dr.

Proceeds from the land sale will go towards upgrades to the old Fire Station No. 7, the city’s first professional firehouse at 2403 Milam. Built in 1898, the station was last used by firefighters in 1969 and is home of the Fire Museum of Houston.
