SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Lighthouse for the Blind (SALB) has opened its new 53,000-sf, multipurpose facility located at 310 Eads. The new multipurpose building will house the Blind Children’s Education Program — a first-of-its-kind service in the state of Texas.

The program will serve children from birth to 14 years as well as their parents.

The focus of the program will be on teaching every-day life skills to blind and visually impaired children. The facility will also be home to the new Vision Rehabilitation Center. Seven examining rooms have been created within the building for this program.

The Eads building will also accommodate additional manufacturing space that will create new jobs for the blind.

The new facility is just around the corner from SALB’s existing, 60,000-sf facility at 2305 Roosevelt Ave.
