El Paso’s I-10 expansion restart
EL PASO – The Texas Department of Transportation officials and executives with the bonding company agreed work should resume between July 6 and July 13 on a major freeway expansion project on the Westside of the city.
The four-year, $158 million project is widening I-10 and adding “collector-distributor” lanes from the Executive Center ramp to the Mesa ramp.
The project will affect 29 bridges along I-10 that will either be widened or replaced, and it will require rebuilding the direct-connecter ramps at Sunland Park and Resler.
The project is part of the $1 billion worth of road improvements TxDOT engineers are drawing up plans for and rolling out, racing to stay ahead of El Paso’s growing population.
