EL PASO - Electrolux, a Swedish company that operates appliance factories in Juárez, is closing its El Paso distribution center in the Lower Valley by mid-December.

Electrolux plans to close its El Paso North American distribution facility at 9600 Pan American Dr. by December 15, 2013. It is moving the El Paso operations to another Electrolux facility in Minooka, Illinois. The Texas Workforce Commission has been notified.

Connecticut-based Precision Camera, which operates a camera repair center in El Paso, plans to lay off 32 people by Christmas, the Workforce Commission reported.

State Farm's West Side call center is laying off 162 in December and 251 in March 2014 as the company closes the center and relocates the jobs to other cities.

Xerox laid off 439 people from its East Side call center in July and September after losing a big customer.

The Hoover and Leviton factories on the West Side laid off 450 workers this year.

Boeing, the large defense contractor, announced early this year that it would lay off about 160 workers at its Northeast El Paso plant.
