SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio is now home to a factory that is developing a fast-growing industry: gummy vitamins. The former Judson-Atkinson Candy factory on the East Side is producing 5 million vitamins every day.

NBTY’s newest 110,000-sf vitamin manufacturing facility at 4266 Dividend marks the first in Texas. NBTY invested $15 million after the purchase, according to Andrea Staub, NTBY’s VP of Communications.

The factory has the capacity to produce up to 15 million a day. The vitamin output of this plant alone would be enough to provide vitamin doses to every child living in both New York, NBTY’s home state, and in Texas.

The factory opening has already created 45 jobs in the developing east side of San Antonio. When running at full capacity the plant is expected to employ more than 100 local associates and bring manufacturing of all NBTY gummy vitamins fully in-house.

NBTY’s new facility, which will produce vitamins for brands such as Nature’s Bounty, Disney and Sundown Naturals will join other world-class NBTY operations in New York, Florida, Arizona and California.
