Waco home sale rising
WACO – More than 80,000 homes were sold in Texas during third quarter, the highest volume since the Texas Association of Realtors began issuing its quarterly housing report in 2009.
Locally, home sales jumped nearly 5 percent from July through September compared to the same period last year.
Sales improved in the Waco Metropolitan Statistical Area, which includes all of McLennan County, but they did not keep pace with statewide numbers.
A total of 679 homes changed hands, a 4.78 percent increase from the 648 during third quarter a year ago, according to the Multiple Listing Service for Greater Waco.
Some new homes are bought directly from builders and do not appear on the MLS, according to local real estate sources.
For the year through Monday, the local MLS showed 2,031 deals had closed on homes, a year-over-year increase of 83 sales.
