BURLESON – Chicken E Food Service has broken ground on a 100,000-sf facility on 26 acres in HighPoint Business Park. The facility will bring in about 60 full-time jobs and an investment of $8 million, according to Bradley Ford, Burleson’s economic development director.

The distribution center will cover 90,000 sf, including 24,000 sf of cooler space and 18,000 sf of freezer space, and the corporate headquarters will occupy more than 8,000 sf. Additionally, a future expansion of 25,000 sf is planned.

In addition to Texas, the distribution facility will service Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana and Oklahoma — more than 170 franchise locations —one of which is located on Wilshire Blvd. near Renfro St. There are also locations in Alvarado, Crowley and Joshua.

Chicken E Food Service will be the inaugural tenant of HighPoint Business Park, which is located on the west side of I-35W, between Bethesda Rd. and FM 917. The deal leaves about 134 acres available for future tenants.

Road construction projects are planned to provide further access to the business park. Vantage Dr. will be extended from Bethesda Rd. south to Cirrus Dr., connecting Cirrus Dr. to I-35W. The roadway is expected to be complete by June 2015.
