Hawaiian Falls rafting to Pflugerville
PFLUGERVILLE – The Pflugerville City Council has approved a $23.5 million loan which allows the Hawaiian Parks company to buy land and build a 25-acre water park. The park by FM 685 and Texas 130 is set to break ground in early December and is expected to open spring 2014.
The city will even throw in $125,000 to promote the place over the next five years.
Hawaiian Falls is expected to employ 100 part-time workers year-round and up to 300 part-time seasonal workers, and offer up to 20 full-time jobs with benefits.
The park will be open year-round and feature a ropes course, kayaking and rafting in the colder months. Hawaiian Falls would use 10 million gallons of water supplied by the City of Pflugerville each year, and it would purify and recycle 70 percent of the water on-site.
Officials estimate the water and adventure park, will bring $700 million to Pflugerville over the next 30 years from increased property and sales tax revenue, more spending and additional developments, such as new hotels.
