FORT WORTH – The Baylor Health Care System has broken ground on the Baylor Surgical Hospital at Fort Worth at 1800 Park Place Ave. The $35 million, 82,000-sf facility is expected to be completed in September 2014.

The three-story surgical center near Baylor All Saints Medical Center will have 30 inpatient beds as well as a three-bed emergency department intended for minor emergencies and a four-bed intensive-care unit.

The hospital is currently located in the surgery center at 750 12th Ave., which opened in 1998.

The new facility is a joint venture with Dallas-based United Surgical Partners International, a for-profit company that owns and operates more than 200 surgery centers, many with not-for-profit health systems.
