CORPUS CHRISTI - Local leaders along with northside residents have broken ground on a new 120-unit residential complex called the Palms at Leopard. The $17.5 million affordable-housing project is located at Leopard St. and Palm Dr.
The low-income housing complex is the area's first new construction project in decades. The complex will replace the aging North Side Manor Apartments. Those residents at Northside Manor will be offered the opportunity to move into the new complex.
The Palms at Leopard will consist of ten buildings, nine of them residential and a clubhouse.
The project will bring 120 families to the area and is expected to be complete in summer 2014.
