ABILENE – In October 2013, 139 area homes were sold for $18.5 million, compared to 138 homes selling for $18.7 million in October 2012. However, 48 percent of the homes listed sold within the first 30 days, according to Dave Dalzell, president of the Abilene Association of Realtors.

“This is the first month (this year) we’ve not shown a significant increase,” said Dalzell. “Eight out of the ten months so far this year have increased sales.”

The October 2013 average price slightly went down to $133,243 from $135,337 in October 2012. The median price, however, increased to $127,770 in October 2013 from $117,000 in October 2012.

Abilene currently has about four months of inventory. “We’d like to have five or six months, but four months is good and means there’s no real pressure on the market one way or the other,” said Dalzell. “It’s a good market right now.”
