KATY – Total enrollment in Katy ISD is currently 66,957 students, up from the 2012 count of 64,059, but is expected to break 75,000 by 2016. The district is comprised of 58 schools.
The largest source of growth in the last year — 76 percent — comes from subdivisions that are not yet built-out. There was an increase of about 2,100 students in 2012 from new homes. Students from subdivisions that are considered built-out accounted for 14 percent of growth during 2012, and made up a large part of the total population, at 49,721.
Multifamily housing accounts collectively for about 10 percent of growth in the district.
