Holiday Inn reserves BOQ on Fort Sam Houston
SAN ANTONIO – A one-time housing complex on the grounds of Fort Sam Houston will soon be home to a new Holiday Inn Express. The structure currently known as Building 592 will be converted into the hotel. The renovation project is valued at $8 million.
Building 592 was built in 1971 as bachelor officer quarters (BOQ). Since 2009, the 200-unit facility has served as a hotel for soldiers, their families and guests to Fort Sam Houston.
The project comes with some unique challenges, including the fact that the building will remain occupied during the renovation. That means that only one floor can be renovated at a time. CF Jordan Construction is serving as the general contractor on the project.
