HOUSTON - Crescent Communities will break ground on The Groves — a 993-acre master-planned community in northeast Houston — on December 17.

Homes will range in size from 2,000 to 4,600 sf, with preliminary prices from $250,000 into the $400,000s.

The community — whose entrance will be roughly four miles north of Beltway 8 and West Lake Houston Parkway, just south of Will Clayton Pkwy. — will have up to 2,200 single-family homes, with a ten-acre village center housing some retail. The development will include a large amenity center with a pool and roughly 1.75 miles of trails, with Woodland creek running through the the length of the community.

Two school sites have been set aside for the community, one of which will be an elementary school. The other school will be either an elementary or middle school, depending on the needs of the Humble Independent School District.

Initial spec homes will be available by fourth quarter 2014. Crescent acquired the land for the Groves in 2012.
