ODESSA - Medical Center Health System (MCHS) will open the 23,000-sf MCH Center for Primary Care-West University, located at University Blvd. and FM 1936, and the 18,500-sf MCH Center for Primary Care-JBS Parkway, located across from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin.

The $5.8 million West University clinic, scheduled to open in August 2014, will offer pediatrics, family practice, OB/GYN, urgent care and optometry.

“This will be the only primary care center or urgent care center that is west of Loop 338,” said Bill Webster, MCHS CEO.

The $5 million JBS Parkway clinic "will have a particular emphasis on pediatrics,” said Webster. “We have a reached an agreement with Covenant Children’s Hospital in Lubbock — that’s the closest children’s hospital — and they will provide rotating specialists to our specialty clinic that hopefully will help alleviate (patients’ traveling to Lubbock or Dallas for a pediatric clinic).”

The JBS clinic is expected to be completed in September 2014. “When these two (clinics) are completed, we’ll have four operational urgent care centers in the greater Odessa area, and they’ll be open seven days a week,” said Webster.
