CARTHAGE, PANOLA COUNTY - The residential home market in Panola County is strong, according to local developers and officials at city hall.

New homes are being built in Carthage's Stonegate addition off West Sabine St., according to City Secretary Debbie Pierce. “That subdivision was just completed this year,” said Pierce. “They’re already selling lots and houses are going in. It’s the first new subdivision developed in a number of years.”

The homes in Stonegate will be at the top of the local market, according to Bryce Boone, a real estate developer. “The minimum square footage will start around 1,900 sf, and the townhomes will start at 1,600 sf,” said Boone.

In all, the neighborhood will house 28 full-size homes and 18 townhomes on city maintained streets with city services.

The first home in the neighborhood to be sold is 2,600 sf and sits at the corner of Stonegate and Hearthstone. “We expect the neighborhood to be significantly full in ten to 15 years,” said Boone.
