SAN ANTONIO – Weston Urban LLC has bought the Rand Building from Frost Bank with plans to establish a permanent home for Rackspace Hosting’s Geekdom program. The Rand Building is a historic, eight-story building located at 100 E. Houston St. near the corner of Soledad.

The building will become the permanent home for Rackspace Hosting’s Geekdom program, the collaborative co-working space for technology entrepreneurs. The program provides shared office space and mentoring for high-tech start-ups.

Geekdom is currently located at the Weston Centre, another office building owned by Weston. However, with this new space, Geekdom will be able to double the size of its current footprint.

The Rand Building could also house the Rackspace Open Cloud Academy, the company’s new cloud training and certifications. The academy is being temporarily housed at the Weston Centre.

Frost Bank will lease back all but two floors of the building from Weston Urban for two years before vacating it completely in spring 2015. Renovations on the building will begin this fall and Geekdom should be ready to move into the building by early 2014.
