FULSHEAR, FORT BEND COUNTY - Firethorne, a 1,400-acre master-planned community, had a record year for homes sales in 2013. Developers and builders have reached the halfway mark for the community’s 3,400 buildout and reached 350 home sales as of December 15, 2013 — a 25 percent increase over 2012 new home sales.

The community has sold 1,980 new homes to date. This is yet another sign of growth spreading to west Houston. In the last decade, Fulshear has seen tremendous growth, mostly from its master-planned communities.

Five years ago, Fulshear had just 700 residents. It now has 5,000 today and could have more than 27,000 by 2016. The Houston-Galveston Area Council projects that by 2040 the area could have 50,000 residents.
